Education Highlights

Since 1984, consulting to education has been a cornerstone of my organization development practice. I believe that providing quality educational experiences to young people is essential to preserve our free democratic society. Quality education takes not only fiscal resources, but more importantly competent and effective leadership and administration, skillful educators, a well coordinated support staff, well grounded curriculum/course offerings, and strategic planning.

I have facilitated and consulted at every level of the school system providing training for Boards and School Committees; team building for administrative groups; professional development for teachers; and conflict management in troubled schools. I have facilitated data driven reorganizations of departments, offices, and systems, and provided coaching for educational leaders. I have worked in over 100 school districts and collaboratives, consulted to higher education, as well as many of the institutions and organizations that support schools. This is a representative sample of those consultations.

Designed and facilitated over two dozen comprehensive strategic plans that included all major stakeholders and resulted in data driven road maps to guide the activities and use of resources in the respective systems for a 3–5 year period. Sample plans are available on request.

Facilitated the reorganization, realignment, and strategic plans for a State Department of Education, Central Offices, Special Education Departments, and other divisions to ensure effective administration and delivery of services to constituencies.

Designed and facilitated multiple large group interventions such as the Future Search Conference and Appreciative Inquiry to bring together diverse stakeholders within the school system and their communities to determine a shared preferred future.

Provided ongoing consultation to Senior Vice Presidents and their administrative teams to increase communication and ensure leadership and coordination of services in the University setting.

Designed and delivered the training for a cadre of consultant/trainers to in a statewide initiative to improve public education.

Facilitated an ongoing Superintendent Support Group for a period of eight years, providing a forum for Superintendent’s to develop strategies to approach challenging and sensitive system-wide issues and increase their individual coaching skills.

Provide leadership coaching to educational leaders at all levels.
