The Art of Group Process Consultation: An Advanced Workshop in Intervention Skills for the Experienced Consultant/Facilitator

This workshop is designed to extend and deepen participants Group Process Consulting (GPC) competencies in all three dimensions of the developmental model — cognitive, behavioral and personal — as experienced in the level one programs, “Group Process Consultation” and “Beyond Facilitation.” The program provides a balance of cognitive and experiential learning and frequent opportunities to practice group process consulting with feedback and coaching. The goal of the workshop is for participants to develop both their conceptual base and their intervention competence, as well as to explore, practice, and develop new forms of intervention.

A critical thread in the fabric of this program is increasing the participant’s self-knowledge, the examination of oneself-as-person in the role of consultant. The workshop challenges the intervener is to bring to bear the full range of his/her experience and practice, in service of increasing client effectiveness. The advanced program encourages participants to come willing to participate fully, explore deeply, and enjoy learning.

Participants will:

Learn approaches for intervening with specific group dynamics such as conflict, power, diversity and ethics)
Develop language and skills for working with dysfunctional behaviors of members;
Explore the effective use of humor;
Learn how to construct and use metaphors as interventions;
Develop or enhance the use of intuition in group assessment and expand core capabilities in diagnosis;
Learn how your “use of self” enhances and inhibits your effectiveness as you explore your capacity to work at deeper levels; and
Build an intervention repertoire and develop capacity to invite groups to higher levels of performance.

The workshop will be limited to a maximum of 20 participants.

Tuition: $1900.00 including workshop notebook, daily continental breakfasts, lunches, and breaks. Two participants from the same organization will receive a 10% discount. Three or more receive a 15% discount. Individuals who sign up for two or more workshops received same the percentage discount. Larger discounts for ODN members.

Early bird registration of $1750.00 will be available. To receive the ODN discount rate of $1520, participants must pre-register.
